Have you ever been experienced”? Well we have……
When my father Col and I found out that Can am were having test ride days in Canberra for the new 3 wheel Spyder, I quickly put our names in the mix as it was also a competition to win the bike as well. We were successful so we duly arrived at the test course set up in the car park opposite the treasury.
About 10 bikes were lined up ready for us to try. After a brief familiarisation with the controls and a few laps around the obstacle course we were soon all out on the road. It was very different to ride as the combination of 2 fat front wheels made the bike stick like you know what to the road. With a combination of leaning in and pulling the bars we could really get some speed through the turns.
The course went around OPH and over Kings Ave Bridge, past the lake through Yarralumla around the lake and back to the treasury…..I really enjoyed the riding they’re heaps of fun, very stable and power wise put out around 100 ish hp with the Rotax engine. . They can take a bit of getting used to, but I think after an hour or two you’d be all set.
After the ride they gave us all free Can am cap and a coffee, so we too hung around like the sales staff, in case you needed to leave a deposit……..
As me Dad and I were leaving, I noticed Steve Davey had turned up for a go and Craig and Lisa Mill as well as our Adrian had their turns on Sunday. If you ever get a chance to ride one, take it and then you too can have an experience….cheers Simon
