Shoalhaven Historic Vehicle Club - Queens Birthday long weekend

Report and Photos by Simon Whittaker

The Shoalhaven club puts this one on every year at the showground in the small town of Berry just outside of Nowra. A great spot close to the coast, good roads and scenery and good weather this year (it usually rains apparently)
I checked the forecast (no rain predicted), looked outside (oooh clear sky) and headed down the coast with old #75 very early on the Saturday morning.
There are plenty of antiques down in Berry and some came to the rally.... in the campground having arrived on Friday afternoon, were Peter Davey, John Broad, Stan Perry, Steve Davey, Dennis Murphy and Rob Harris with the Indian tribe under the covered stalls (good spot that) just to name a few.
After registering, it was off on a short ride through farmlands on some winding backroads then onto the highway to open her up a bit where I promptly ran out of fuel.....I swear I'd put enough "racin' gas" in the tank from the last ride.....Bugger! best wait for the back up trailer then.....
We stopped at a lovely scenic spot by the water at Gerringong, had a coffee then returned eventually to the showground for the entrants judging.
They had a bit of everything down there with a nice red and white Suzuki T500 Titan and a Kawasaki 900 catching my eye. There were about 80 odd entries with really nice hand made trophies given away. Our members do well here too, seeing VVCMCC members amongst all the previous winners' photos lining the wall inside.
The dinner & presentation Saturday night and a longer ride on Sunday lets most people decide to stay until Monday and why not, a it's a public holiday!. It's a great weekend away and everyone should go next year
...Cheers Simon.
