18 March 2009 Apologies: Denis Murphy, Lorraine Lister Rally point: 10.00am Logan’s Café, Bungendore Ian Duvall on his KTM joined us for the first time, he was warmly welcomed by all we look forward to him joining us on future rides. This week’s rally point was at the café adjacent to the pie shop in Bungendore. Graham and Stan met up at my place, we had intended to ride to the rally point via Norton Road. But, the bridge at Oaks Estate was closed due to repairs, scheduled for completion by 6 April’ 09. Instead, we changed our route through Queanbeyan and onto the main road to Bungendore. We arrived in time to a have coffee before setting off again at 10.30am. This week’s ride took us along the King’s Highway turning left at Doughboy and heading onto Tarago village, then back to Bungendore for lunch, this leg of our ride covered 73km. After a long lunch break at Logan’s Café with various snacks and coffee consumed by all. I rated they serve the best Hamburgers in town (see photograph). Many laughs and topics were discussed around the table. One issue that got us thinking was how current motorcycles will fair in say twenty or thirty years especially, with all this new electronic gismo’s such as fuel injection and engine management systems? Will spares and replacement components be available? You only have to think about computers and how rapidly they have changed in the last ten or so years with updated CPU’s (central processing units), every year or so. Who still uses a Commodore 64? Food for thought eh. A pleasant time was had by all, we all look forward to meeting up again on this coming Sunday’s ride. Riders started to leave around 1.30pm making their return journey home by different routes. The writer’s total distance travelled today was 174km. Len Skipper |
