25 March 2009 Present: Apologies: Floyd Primmer Rally point: 10.00am from the Shell Fuel Station at EPIC Well, today's ride was the most attended by club members since the Club officially sponsored this event. The weather conditions were ideal for the ride, overcast with the temperature around the high twenties. We left at 10.15am., our journey took us to Gunning via the Barton Highway turning right at Nanima Road then right again onto the Murrumbateman Road, then left onto the Gundaroo Road. The new bridge leading into Gundaroo village is progressing well with construction of the last pier nearing completion, some precast road beams are onsite already waiting installation, not sure of the completion date but, I guess the next four to eight weeks will see it finished? We continued onto Gunning village stopping for refreshments at the A well deserved round of coffee and food was consumed by all sitting outside the cafe taking advantage of the pleasant weather. The group started to leave around 1pm., with cloudy and windy conditions increasing. Some travelled back to town the same way as we had came and others via the Sutton Road and the Federal Highway. The trip was around 144km to Gunning and back to the EPIC rallying point. Just a reminder that we don't always meet at the same location so, if you are considering joining us, please give either John Broad on 6242 8175 or the writer Len Skipper |
