After a coffee and chat the group set off at around 10.45am travelling down to the south coast via the Kings Highway. We drove straight through Braidwood then down the Clyde Mountain stopping at Batehaven for an early lunch and coffee.

Topped-up copious amounts of meat pies, cake and coffee at the local bakers shop come café, Ernie and Floyd departed the group to make their way back to Canberra. Steve met up with a fellow BMW mate, Grant Mulcahy, on his 1958 BMW R69, we then made our way to Narooma. We stopped at the Information centre at the Light House land mark and took time for a brief chat and a few photographic shots of the group. We said our goodbye to Steve and Grant and made our way to Merimbula along the coastal roads, now all sealed. A much more pleasant ride then taking the Princes Highway.

We arrived at our overnight stay, the South Sea Motel at 12 Merimbula Drive (ph 6495 1911) around 5.00pm we had covered 350 km. The Motel was centrally located in town, ideally situated for all amenities the town has to offer. It had been arranged we meet up with Brian Killey, a former Club Member and fellow Wednesday Group Rider at 6.30pm at the Bomaderry Bowling Club. It turned out to be a stones throw from the motel. The club had recently been renovated and was well supported by the locals that night, drinks and meals were all very reasonably priced.

After a pleasant evening we made arrangements to meet up with Brian the following day to ride part way with us to Bemboka. We all went for a short walk through town to let the evening meal go down before retiring for the night to our motel.

The next morning we met outside the rooms to have coffee and chat before deciding where to have breakfast. Lorraine suggested a very nice establishment, the Waterfront café. Again only another short walk from the motel, we had to wait for about 15 minutes for the café to open at 8am. After perusing the menu we all decided to have the ‘Big Bang’ breakfast, see photograph to see what I mean, it kept us going all day.

When we stopped at Bemboka we could only manage a drink at the famous bread and pie shop. We said goodbye to Brian, it was another pleasant ride via Candelo on a warm and sunny morning. Leaving Bemboka we travelled up Brown Mountain to Nimmitabel stopping at the Leather shop where Lorraine had left her Mk 7 goggles for replacement of the leather surround a week or so earlier. Graham purchased a leather belt for his recently acquired Triumph belt buckle and I purchased a pair of Black Max oilskin cargo style over trousers fully lined for a princely sum of $130.00 good value, I thought.

Our final stop was at Cooma at a transport café for coffee before our last leg home of a very pleasant two day riding trip. Total distance travelled was 599km on two warm and sunny days.
