This week’s ride was down on numbers, if any other members would like to partake in a midweek ride, give either John Broad of myself a ring on 6287 2065 on the Tuesday before the Wednesday ride.

We headed up the Federal Highway, then through Sutton Village onto Gundaroo where we stopped for morning tea. Our usual place the Old Hume café. The new bridge construction leading into Gunning village was having its first road beam installed, which was a hive of activity with mobs of men and crane’s. Part of the road was closed and under controlled traffic flow conditions. Can’t wait until it’s finished, much better then the old wooden sleeper one!

The weather was overcast with the odd shower, leading into Gunning but, cleared up before we set off again for Yass. Our route this week was slightly different and was via Dalton, turning left onto the Jerrawa road. This road although sealed, isn’t in the best condition and rather narrow. Care must be exercised looking out for oncoming vehicles and 4WD’s because there isn’t much room to pass before the gravel shoulder. We turned onto the Hume Highway then onto the Barton Highway into Yass. Our return journey was on the Barton Highway back to Canberra. Back home again around 3pm total distance travelled was around 182km.
