Everybody was looking forward the trip to Wakefield Park where motorcycle racing practice was scheduled. We made our way along the Federal Highway turning off at Macs Reef Road then onto Gundaroo Road passing through Bungendore. We then made our way to Tarago village turning left onto Goulburn Road. We passed through Lake Bathurst village and finally arrived at Wakefield Park. A coffee break was in order after covering 90km in cool overcast conditions. After a short break we walked over to the trackside to view few local lads having fun around the track.
The roar of the bikes was exciting to watch as they gave them full throttle along the straight only centimetres away from the crash barrier and us, with crackle of exhausts before breaking into the right hander. Ernie had a glee in his eye before mentioning are we coming back after lunch? We had a short visit to the pits to check the bikes out, before leaving to make our way to town for lunch.
A pleasant time was spent at Rosie’s Café in Goulburn, chatting and enjoying lunch. Lorraine and Graham went home the same way as our outward journey and the rest of us via the Federal Highway. Travelling back home via EPIC Rally point we had covered 185km round trip.
With the Shoalhaven Kickstart Rally on 6 – 8 June, our next ride on 3 June will be a short one to fettle some of the bikes going down to the rally.
