Rally point: 10.00am from the Shell Fuel Station at EPIC

At 8am the rain was falling hard and the ride was likely to be cancelled. After checking the Bureau of Meteorology website, the forecast was for rain and overcast and clearing conditions, we decided to proceed and met at our usual place.

At commencement of the ride the temperature was around 4c and did manage to rise to 7c with cold and overcast conditions. And yes, we headed for our usual watering hole at ‘The Old Hume Highway Café’ Gunning. We took the most direct route via the Federal highway Sutton, Gundaroo.

The new bridge works at Gundaroo is proceeding slowly with the hardcore ramp on the Sutton side now complete and quarrying for hardcore material on the hillside north of Gundaroo is in progress. Awaiting delivery onsite and compacting works to commence, leaving the final stage of road base and asphalt surfacing to be completed. Not sure how long before the bridge will be ready for traffic use and I wonder if the Gundaroo village will be having an official opening?

After a very social hour or so was spent at the café, we left with the sun beginning to break through and warming up, which made our homeward journey more pleasant. Our route took us via the Murrumbateman Road, Nanima Road and the Barton Highway. 60km from the Rally Point to the café at Gunning and we covered a total distance of around 157km on this weeks ride.
