Apologies: Ian Duval

Rally point: 10.00am from the Shell Fuel Station at EPIC

Today's weather started off sunny but, by the time we all arrived at the rallying point, it was still very cold and overcast. The temperature didn't go much above 7-9c all day. After a brief discussion within the group, Bungendore was today's chosen destination but, not by our usual route that is, Macs Reef Road. Instead, Ernie suggested the 'Long Way There' via, GDE, Tuggeranong, Johnson Drive, Monaro Highway, Googong Dam, and Queanbeyan. Ernie led the group off, while John and Stan decided to take a shorter route, Stan's bike was having a bit of fuel starvation problem on one cylinder (dirt in the float chamber he thought). We reached the Queanbeyan Bridge after covering some 64km then proceeded along the Kings Highway turning right into Captain Flats Road. Our journey took along the recently resurfaced Hoskinstown Road into Bungendore, a journey of 99km. Peter mentioned that was the most distance he had travelled to get to Bungendore!

John and Stan had arrived before us at Logan's Cafe, as you would imagine and had taken the warmest seats in the place, nearest the open fire. Although they had said, 'we'll warm the seats up for your arrival'. Hot drinks and food was dually ordered by all after another chilly winter's ride.

Denis, who is organising the Club's Annual Dinner function next month, was encouraging attendance and at $15 per person. He said, 'it's good value considering it is heavy subsidised by the Club'. Money was handed over and receipts given. My wife and I attended our first Club dinner last year and I can highly recommend it to all our new members.
The group decided to leave around 1.15pm after another enjoyable gathering on our weekly ride and social lunch. We all headed off in various directions. Denis and I went home via Norton Road, Queanbeyan, Fyshwick and Weston Creek, I had a brief stop at Queanbeyan to get a few break bits for my Triumph Bonneville T140 nearing its first overall after standing for some eleven years unused in a shed in Watson. I arrived home at 2.00pm and covered 155km from the Rally point to home this week.
