The ride this week was one of our shorter ones. But, always enjoyed by all participants, allowing the tyres to be rounded off a bit on the twisty bends and roads along the way to the Moon Rock Café at the Tidbinbilla Tracking Station.

Our route took us back along the GDE for those riders who live in the south side of town. Turning off at the Belconnen Way then left into Coulter Drive through to Coppins Crossing. The clouds looked rather threatening at this stage and I thought we were going to get wet before reaching the café. We turned right onto Uriarra Road then left at the Murrumbidgee crossing, the temperature was getting cold as well, around 11c. The route now starts to get interesting, left again at the new Forest Settlement where the views are delightful and winding down hill roads which are great fun until we reached the Cotter Road junction. Another nice stretch of road with more interesting twist and turns until we reached the café

Biscuits and coffee was consumed by all, with Phil trying the cafés locally made meat pie. Conversation was lively as usual with discussion for next weeks ride to Wakefield Park to check-out the bike racing and lunch at Goulburn. Aldi’s once a year bike gear sale was also mentioned and some of the group were looking to pick-up a few bargains as well.

We left taking the shorter route home via the Cotter bridge where a minor hold-up was incurred with the new pipeline works at her Cotter Pumping Station (CPS). The road resurfacing works are now completed from the CPS to the Stromlo Forest turn off.

The group made their way to my place for lunch and left around 3.30pm. We covered around 101km from EPIC to Weston Creek.
