Wednesday Ride Report – 16 September 2009 A social ride to Gunning via Collector Present: Apologies: Phil Dawes; Lorraine Lister & Ernie Seary Rally point: 10.00am from the Shell Fuel Station at EPIC This report is late in being posted on the website. Due to the writer not preparing it after ride and using the time washing his bike, to remove the watered down blue metal dust which splashed all over it from the Road Works on the way home. The weather for the ride was perfect, bright and sunny with a temperature range of 10–16oc mark. The group choose to ride to Gunning via Collector. Graham met us at the Collector junction on his new Sprint after taking into account the recommended running-in process. Graham headed the group off up the Federal Highway, turning off at the Collector junction after covering 47km from the rallying point. . The Old Hume Highway is still deteriorating with large pot holes appearing in many places. They have been marked with yellow lines around them. Keep an eye out for them if you are travelling that way. Hopefully, they will be repaired some time in the near future? The drive into Gunning was most enjoyable as usual. We stopped for refreshments at The Old Hume Café the outside seating provided an enjoyable place to partake their fine food and coffee whilst enjoying the warm and sunny conditions. Ernie wasn’t able to join us this week after being discharge from hospital the previous day we all wish him a speedy recovery. We decided to travel home the short route with John and Jim going via Murrumbateman and Nanima Road. The round trip was around 197km to my place and back by 2.45pm. Yesterday’s ride 23rd was cancelled due to the heavy rain and high winds during the night and forecast for the ride day. Len Skipper
