Wednesday Ride Report - 28 October 2009 A social ride to Gunning via Collector Present: Apologies: Jim Alexander & Phil Dawes Rally point: 10.00am from the Shell Fuel Station at EPIC The weather for this weeks ride was perfect, bright and sunny with a temperature range of 20-23°C mark. The forecast was for possible showers later in the afternoon. The group choose to ride to Gunning via Collector. We headed off up the Federal Highway, turning off at the Collector junction after covering 47km from the rallying point, Stan met us at Gunning after taking the more direct route. The drive into Gunning was most enjoyable as usual and we covered 97kms. Peter left early to meet a suspension specialist who will be modifying his new bike. The group travelled home in two different directions John, Stan and the writer went via Nanima Road and Murrumbateman while the rest of the group took a longer route via Dalton, Yass and the Barton Highway. There are various road works just outside Gunning to improve the road surface and hard shoulder. Again the Sutton side of Gundaroo, road resurfacing with traffic light and speed restrictions is in place. The new bridge works are still in progress with road realignment underway. When we went through there and over the old timber bridge the contractor was laying dirt and hardcore making it hazardous for two wheeled vehicles. The shorter trip home we covered around 201kms to Weston and home by 2.30pm. Previous Wednesday reports from 30 September were cancelled either to bad weather or some of the group participating on the spring trip 28/9/09-2/10/09 and Phillip Island trip 14/10/09-20/10/09 refer to separate reports on the club's website.
