Wednesday, 10 February 2010 A social ride to Batemans Bay via Braidwood Present: Apologies: John Broad; Graham Knox; Lorraine Litster; Floyd Primmer & Rally point: 10.00am from the Bardy's cafe Bungendore Well, today we're off to the seaside, how terribly English eh! Last week Peter suggested this trip because he needed to replace his bike jacket for a new Fluorescent day-glow type made by Bikers Gear, the only agent for this brand was down at Batemans Bay. We all met up at Brady's one of usual cafe's in Bungendore. Steve Davey joined us for a coffee before returning home to do an oil change on his bike. We set off around 10.30 after a refreshing cup of coffee with our next rallying point at the park in Braidwood, then onto the Bay. Peter led the group until we reached 'LetzScoot' shop in Batemans Bay. The weather conditions were ideal, sunny with the temperature around the low thirties and we didn't meet much traffic on the King's Highway going down apart from one road works hold-up on the Clyde. The chap holding the stop sign beckoned us up to the front of the queue for a brief chat about his bikes and his planned new purchase, I guess it helps pass the time of day and it certainly helped us from getting held up behind slow moving traffic. We arrived at 'LetzScoot' shop, just a short distance from the Bay a right turn opposite from the petrol garage then into the Industrial Estate. We were made very welcomed by Julie the proprietor. The shop was very busy with customers while we were checking out the clothing stock, both Peter and Phil made purchases of the above mentioned jackets. We made ourselves very comfortable around the coffee area and checked out the scooter displays and wall memorabile. After a welcomed refreshing iced coffee provided by Julie we made our way to Batehaven's bakers shop for lunch before heading back to Canberra. The day's weather forecast was for rain later in the afternoon and for once the forecast was correct. By the time we reached Braidwood the clouds had become heavy with the rumble of thunder and lightning, the temperature had also dropped by ten degrees. We had another stop for a coffee break and in my case an ice cream, before getting into the wet weather gear and the final leg home. Half way to Bungendore the heavens opened up and it rained nearly all the rest of the way home. On this trip we covered around 330kms and arrived home just after 5pm. I guess all the bikes are now scheduled for another wash and polish. Everybody enjoyed this outing and suggested we should make it a regular outing at least once during the warmer periods or the year. If you should see Peter's and Phil's new jackets (you won't miss them) and are interested in getting one yourself, here are the contacts to get your started - Be seen and ride safe Bikers Gear Australia LetzScoot Scooter Sales Hire Service .
