Wednesday Ride Report - 9 June 2010 A social ride to Bungendore Roll Call: Apologies: Ernie Seary and Peter Davey Rally point: 10.00am from the Old Shell Fuel Station at EPIC A day that should have been spent around the fire with a good bike book, instead we went for a ride with a few good mates as usual. Well, the forecast was for a cloudy start with worsening conditions later in the afternoon and an expected temperature of only 10°C. It was correct for once, however, the sun did manage to break through on one or two occasions, but not for long. With this mind we decided a shorter ride was the order for today's ride and Bungendore was the place. We headed off up the Federal Highway turning off at the Mac's Reef Road straight through to Bungendore and as we ascended higher so the temperature dropped, it must have been around about 7° or 8°C. We stopped at Logan's Café for refreshments, coffee, scones jam and cream was consumed by some, Lorraine tucked into eggs and bacon for good measure. The conversation was concerning arrangements for the Berry Kickstart Rally over the long weekend and other bike stuff. We departed around twelve-ish, travelling back via Norton Road and Queanbeyan. John, Floyd and Colin made their way back via Sutton Road and the Federal highway. The weather was deteriorating, a bit cooler and windier with the odd spot of rain and for me home to a welcomed warm fire and hot soup. Distance travelled 110km and home about one-ish. Len Skipper |
