The ride today was from the ex-servo EPIC to Crookwell and back via Gunning. 250 klms were covered between 10.15AM and 3.30PM, mainly in cold and sometimes damp road conditions - showing only passing resemblance to the weather forecast. Grey clouds and a few drops of rain were encountered early in the ride. Brrrr.

Stops were at the Old Hume café at Gunning twice for coffee, both going (in order to thaw out) and returning (to socialise more). Three stops - and why not when the company is so good.

The Crookwell stop was at the corner pub which serves the best value yummy hot lunches on the planet. This pub has a great looking wall mural made of rusty barbed wire depicting a cattle dog sitting in the shade of the barbed wire fence.

The group welcomed a new starter Laurie Cremer riding the ex-Col Hill Suzuki 1400. Laurie came with us as far as Gunning. It was also good to see Graham Knox on the ride.

Congratulations went to PJD for his King of the Kickstart Rally win at Berry on the previous weekend.

Ride Captain Lenny missed the ride and the World's best hamburgers and potato wedges. But having been away at Berry all long weekend, home duties had to prevail.

Denis Murphy
